A Streetcar Named Desire 2

Blanche does not approve of Stanley because she does not like the way the he treats her sister, Stella. Stanley constantly beats on Stella for the smallest issues. Then, later, he goes back to Stella to apologize, and Stella accepts it. She claims that that is just the way he is. She also told Blanche about how Stanley went around the room smashing lightbulbs with her shoes on their honeymoon. Blanche sees Stanley as a vulgar man with no respect for Stella. She thinks that it is crazy that someone like Stella, born and raised on Belle Reve, could put up with a man like Stanley. Blanche does not like Stanley one bit and continually referred to him as a brutish man. He constantly humiliates and beats Stella, yet Stella comes running back every time thinking that it is just the way that Stanley is.

I agree with you that the biggest reason that Stella does not like Stanley is because of his aggressiveness towards Stanley and i think you did a great job explaining that in your blog!

Abbey,
I agree with you that the main reason that Blanch disapproves of Stanley is because he is a violent man who beats her for no reason. You did a good job of describing how violent he was and what he did to make up for it each time to Stella. You had good reasons and supported them well. Also, I think you are right when you said that she views him as a brutish man and how someone who grew up on Belle Reve could do much better.
Great job!

I agree with you that Blanche thinks that Stanley is a very brutish man, but I think that the main reason that Blanche does not agree with Stanley is the fact that he is of a lower class than the Dubois family. I think that if Stanley was a rich gentleman, and still beat and cursed at Stella, Blanche would not care as much because Stella would at least have the security of money and a nice house. Good Post!
